COVID-19 Update (Summer 2020)

Dear Liberate Family,

You are all very much in our hearts and at the forefront of minds during what is a difficult time for us collectively.

As COVID-19 continues to progress across the country and the world, we have been hearing from many of you. You've shared with us your losses and stories - and we wanted to let you know, we hear you. For those of you who don't know, several members of our Liberate Artists team and faculty have either contracted COVID-19 themselves or have had close family members battling the virus. Sadly, one much beloved faculty member has lost a parent. We mourn with them and send love to our entire team and faculty who predominantly reside in New York City.

From our conversations with families to our own personal losses there is a growing collective fear and in some cases inability of travelling this summer to New York City.

Your safety of health and mind is our number one priority, always. Having taken everything into account it is clear that in the interest of what is now an overwhelming majority we must postpone Phoenix Fire. We’ve delayed this difficult decision as long as possible to ensure that we have the most accurate information in order to provide a clear plan of action for our current Phoenix Fire, Season 4!

Postponement

This 4th year of Phoenix Fire will be rescheduled but the fantastic news is, thanks to everyone's support, we are able to deliver the same greatly anticipated experience, retaining the Hotel, Theater, Artists, and Faculty! (As always, all aspects of the convention/production remain subject to change).

We have rescheduled the dates to the same week in 2021, to avoid conflicts with school and studio schedules. Below are the adjusted program dates.

Spark: July 28th - July 31st, 2021

Ignite: July 26th - July 31st, 2021

Blaze: July 24th - July 31st, 2021

As anyone who has experienced Phoenix Fire is aware, every year is truly unique. The artists and faculty are specifically chosen for each convention so their classes support what is always an original production. We are blessed to be able to hold on to what is a magical line up and we give thanks to our fantastically supportive hotel and theater venues for making the reschedule possible. It hasn't been easy to retain the essence of everything planned for this 4th Phoenix Fire but as they say "The show must go on!"

Registrations & Reservations

All currently registered dancers will be automatically moved to the new dates in 2021 relevant to the program they are registered for. All existing waivers will remain valid as this is legally still the same convention and production, simply rescheduled.

      • To ensure scholarships are honored, those who are currently on payment plans must continue as scheduled but we have secured resources to support those families experiencing hardship and may require additional plan support. Please let us know if you need to reschedule your payment plan to lower the monthly figure by spreading the cost over additional months.
    •
      • If you have made a hotel reservation please call them to cancel without charge. We have secured the same group rate at the hotel for 2021 but the group is not yet available for booking.
      • If flights have already been purchased please contact your airline it is likely there is no charge for rescheduling those fights.

For avoidance of any doubt, this is a postponed event and refunds are not possible under any circumstances.

ALTERNATIVE Options

Whilst it is industry standard to reschedule events in this type of situation, we understand that some registrants may not be able to make the new dates. There isn't usually much recourse should registrants not be in a position to attend rescheduled dates but we are here to support you.

If the 2021 rescheduled dates are in conflict with prior commitments we are able to offer two additional alternatives which will require a transfer of credit:

Phoenix Fire - 5th Anniversary, 2022

You may transfer your credit from Phoenix Fire, Season 4 now in 2021 to Phoenix Fire, Season 5 in 2022. The dates for Phoenix Fire, Season 5 have been preemptively negotiated with the Intercontinental and are as follows:

Spark: July 27th- July 30th, 2022

Ignite: July 25th - July 30th, 2022

Blaze: July 23rd - July 30th, 2022

Focus - Season 2, 2021

Alternatively, our second option for dates in 2021, for eligible dancers only, is Focus, our Los Angeles commercial dance convention. The dates for Focus Season 2 are as follows:

July 9th - July 14th, 2021

Eligible dancers will be sent a golden ticket, an invitation to join us in Los Angeles, California for Focus, Season 2. This is a unique experience where attendees train with top commercial dancers and are cast to film a professional music video with a recording artist, directed and choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance winner and All Star Lauren Froderman. To get a taste of this magical convention view the music video from Focus, Season 1 here: https://youtu.be/apxEpOrpvwM

We will be announcing further details and launching registration for Focus, Season 2 in the next few months.

Please note: There will likely be a price differential to register for Focus, Season 2.

To request a transfer of credit to Phoenix Fire, Season 5 in 2022 or Focus, Season 2 in 2021, please contact us ASAP.

Thank You

Finally, please let us take this opportunity to thank our entire Liberate Family for supporting us and trusting us to do what is in the best interest of families whilst in difficult circumstances, under financial constraints, and with multiple obligations. We are all very much in this together and together we will all reap the rewards of having supported what we promise to be, a magical and momentous dance convention & production. Let Phoenix Fire be a light at the end of this long tunnel and something for every family to look forward to when we can all safely dance together again.

You are enough, always.

Liberate Artists INC.

With the rising public concern over Coronavirus (COVID-19), we continue to carefully monitor alerts issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and follow their guidance. We also follow guidelines issued by the City of New York for Phoenix Fire and State and local government advice when traveling for In-Studio Experiences.

The well being of our entire Liberate Family is of the highest priority. This includes dancers, families, friends, studio owners, and Artists alike.

Travel Restrictions

We are currently hearing of a travel ban between the USA and most of Europe and other highly affected areas. This ban only covers Non-US Residents so those that have a travel history to countries with a Level 3 Travel Health Notice are advised and encouraged to self-quarantine, self-monitor, and practice social distancing for 14-days from the time the individual departed from the high-risk country. At the moment the level 3 countries are China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy. This list may change in the upcoming days; you can find the most up to date list of LEVEL 3 travel countries at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html.

Any family with a travel history that meets these criteria who are registered for any Liberate Experience are to inform Liberate Artists in confidence (steven@liberateartists.com).

Measures

For the health and safety of the entire community, we emphasize the importance of measures found helpful in preventing the spread of disease. As with other respiratory illnesses, individuals can help prevent the spread of disease by taking the following steps:

    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after coughing or sneezing.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Stay home while you are sick and avoid close contact with others.
    • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze and throw away tissues.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently-touched surfaces.
    • As always, parents/guardians should keep children home when they are sick. They should not return to school or studios and events until they have been fever-free without medication for 24 hours.

Our Experiences

Our next In-Studio Experience is scheduled to commence May 1st, 2020 and we intend to proceed as planned at this time. We will however continue to monitor the situation for the wellbeing of all involved.

Speaking to Phoenix Fire 2020 specifically, we are encouraged by the summer bringing a brighter outlook than the current narrative during these colder months. We fully expect everything to proceed as planned at the end of July and for us all to enjoy a much needed dance vacation, creating some truly magical memories.

Should the unexpected happen and the virus require events cease in NYC, even in late July, then we will act and follow the guidelines at that time.

Please continue to remain positive for the summer and excited for Phoenix Fire 2020 and enjoy the anticipation of what is set to be a fantastic line up of dance Artist and one epic theater production. We encourage you all to book your hotel room at the Intercontinental at Time Square and relax in the knowledge that there is no deposit required and the room can be cancelled if needed.

We will continue to provide you with updates as the situation continues to evolve. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

If you have specific concerns or questions about your child’s health, please contact your healthcare provider.

Sincerely

Geri & Steven
