Welcome Apprentices and LADC's To Phoenix Fire 2022!

We are ecstatic to have you join us for our fifth year anniversary experience. Phoenix Fire is a magical and momentous experience that is all about building long lasting friendships, exceptional dance training and performance, all while reminding you that YOU ARE ENOUGH, exactly as you are in the skin and body you are in.

In this guide you will discover all the things you need to know to get the most out of your experience at Phoenix Fire. Please note that this is a living and breathing guide. Our Liberate team will continue to update this Welcome Guide as we have new information to share with you.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PHOENIX FIRE APPRENTICE AND LADC DATES: July 21st - 30th 2022

LOCATIONS:

Classes & Rehearsal - Intercontinental NY @ Times Square: 300 W. 44th Street, New York, NY 10036 Find us by taking the escalators or elevators down 1 level.

Cabaret & Final Performances - Riverside Theatre: 91 Claremont Ave, New York, NY 10027 We will be at this location for the Diseny Cabaret on Monday, July 25th 2022 and our final performances on Saturday, July 30th 2022.

AUDITION:

All Phoenix Fire Apprentices will be asked to submit an online audition for assisting placement purposes. Audition videos must be submitted by June 6th 2022.

Audition submission instructions are listed below. Apprentices who do not submit their auditions by June 6th will automatically be placed into assisting positions.

All LADC's will be asked to submit and online audition to be cast in our original Broadway-style production. Audition videos must be submitted by June 6th 2022.

COVID-19 INFORMATION:

Covid-19 restrictions are ever in flux. As of our latest update masks are suggested but optional. We ask for physical proof of a negative Covid-19 test 72 hours prior to arrival for all participants and the adults traveling with them OR a Covid-19 vaccine for all participants and the adults traveling with them.

For the performances, only at The Riverside Theatre:The theatre requires all audience members to wear a mask. These are the rules and regulations set forth by The Riverside Theatre and must be followed.

HOW TO GET TO PHOENIX FIRE 2022:

Local: Take the train or subway to 42nd street and walk or uber to our Phoenix Fire hotel.

National/International: Fly into John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), or Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). From there take an uber or cab to our Phoenix Fire hotel.

PHOENIX FIRE ACCOMMODATIONS

Phoenix Fire classes and rehearsals are held at our signature Hotel, the Intercontinental NY at Times Square. Families can stay in NYC at the Intercontinental NY at Times Square and then take an elevator down to classes everyday!

MAGICAL PHOENIX FIRE FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Disney Broadway Cabaret

When: Monday, July 25th 2022 • 7:00-8:30PM

Price: Pay What You Can Charity Fundraiser ($35, $55, or $65 per ticket a percentage of all proceeds goes to Always, Enough Foundation)

Location: Riverside Theatre: 91 Claremont Ave, New York, NY 10027

All Apprentices and LADC’s will be performing in the Disney Cabaret. Performance numbers have been pre-selected and rehearsal time can be found on the schedule. Some choreographers may have you learn choreography via video prior to your arrival at Phoenix Fire. In this case, the Liberate Team will reach out with the video for you. Additionally, all Cabaret numbers will have required costumes, and the Costume Guide will be available by mid-June.

All Apprentices and LADC’s receive one free ticket (for a parent/guest) to attend our Disney Cabaret. Additional tickets can be purchased for the entire family. This is an Always, Enough Foundation charity event and a percentage of all ticket sales will go to our sibling organization. Pay what you can to break barriers to access for kids in dance.

Talent Show

When: Friday, July 29th 2022 • 7-8PM

Price: Free

Location: Intercontinental NY @ Times Square: 300 W. 44th Street, New York, NY 10036

At Liberate we like to celebrate all your talent not just your brilliant dancing ability. Your special talent can be anything you choose! Know how to juggle, want to sing, play an instrument, have a comedy bit? Come show it off! Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Families are welcome to attend and/or perform! A quick dress rehearsal for all performers will be at 6:30pm - 6:50pm. 

Original Broadway-Style Production

When: Saturday, July 30th 2022

Price:

THE GREEN SHOW: 2-3:15PM, $55.00 per ticket

THE PURPLE SHOW: 6-7:30PM, $65.00 per ticket

We are all the heroes of our own stories and the villians of someone elses. That's the theme of our original Broadway-style production featuring some of the most polarizing characters from Marvel to Grimms' Fairy Tales. Welcome to a town filled with all the characters we love and the ones we're told to love to hate for a magical 5th year anniversary story that shows us all that there is a lot more that brings us together than rips us apart.

Starring the 2022 Phoenix Fire Prodigies from the Spark, Ignite, and Blaze programs. At the conclusion of our Purple Show performance we'll celebrate the week and award scholarships to our partner organizations, announce our 2022-2023 Liberate Artists Dance Captains, and introduce our 2022-2023 Patricia A. Woodward Inspiration Award winner.

Liberate Artists Dance Captain Program

Our Liberate Artists Dance Captain Training Program is a small group extension of our mission to build confidence and promote social growth in dancers. For 10 months, dancers and their families participate in seminars and training to develop the tools for wherever dance may take them. From dance medicine and science to guest artist classes, this program is for the dancer wanting to develop their artistry, and for the families that support them.

To apply dancers must submit an application and an unlisted YouTube video showing their movement skills and explaining why they'd like to join us as a 22-23 Liberate Artists Dance Captain.

This program is open to dancers 12-18 and the fee is $1899.00 which will be paid via payment plan. Liberate Artists will also provide several full tuition scholarship for dancers with financial need to participate in the program. Application is due 7/15/2022.

Patricia A. Woodward Inspiration Award

Named after our Liberate Artists Founder/Creative Director's mentor, Patricia A. Woodward, this award is a need and kindness-based scholarship where we pay for a dancer's entire tuition for one year at their home studio.

This is for the dancer that embodies everything we believe in at Liberate Artists, Inc. and is the most prestigious award at Liberate Artists, Inc. This year, we're adding to this award and the recipient of the Patricia A. Woodward Inspiration Award will also receive:

  • • Full Tuition Scholarship To Phoenix Fire Ignite
  • • Liberate Artists Signature Tee Meet
  • • Become Brand Ambassador For Liberate Artists INC

  • Application Instructions

    For each application families will need to complete the Phoenix Fire Financial Support Application, upload a photo of the applicant to be used for announcement on social media, submit a 3-5 minute unlisted YouTube video. We will only accept unlisted YouTube videos in the application and will not accept any other form of video submission. Learn how to post an unlisted YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/WkgOvUr5Alc

    The video submission must include the following:

        • - The applicant dancing their favorite style of dance and choreography that showcases their love of dance
        • - The applicant shares and/or their family share's with the award committee how winning this award will help the applicant's family and support the applicant's passion for dance

    Please note, if awarded, the 22-23 Patricia A. Woodward Inspiration Award Winner's video will be shown during the Phoenix Fire Purple Show Award's Ceremony.

KCC Award

The KCC Award is awarded to dancers who are kind, compassionate, and caring during Phoenix Fire 2022. We value these traits above everything else. Dancers who receive this award are also awarded a scholarship to attend conventions or events from our partner organizations including: Velocity Dance Convention, Activate Your Artistry Dance Convention, Joffrey Texas, and more!

 

Anita Mann Bright Futures Award

The Anita Mann Bright Futures Award is in honor of legendary choreographer, dancer, and philanthropist Anita Mann. Anita Mann is an American choreographer, dancer and actress. Mann has been honored by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as one of America's top five contemporary choreographers. Choreography credits include five seasons on the 1980s pop dance television show, the TV series Solid Gold, for which she was nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography. Mann has also choreographed "The Cher Show", "The Academy Awards", the "Golden Globe Award", "Academy of Country Music Awards", the "Miss America Pageant", "The People's Choice Awards", the "Grammy Hall of Fame Award", and the "Emmy Awards."

This award is a stipend to support dancers on a collegiate level who are entering or are currently enrolled and studying in a BFA or BA dance program in the United States in the fall of 2022.. The stipend is to support underrepresented college-aged students of economic need.

 

Libeate Artists Scholarships

These are scholarships to attend our magical and momentous Liberate Artists experiences for the summer of 2023.

At Phoenix Fire we provide ten, $100.00 stipends for families with economic need. If your family could use the additional support please complete the form below.

Liberate Artists Dance Captain Full Support Award

At Liberate Artists we believe that everyone should get the opportunity to participate in our programming no matter their economic level of freedom. Our Liberate Artists Dance Captain full support award covers families tuition to the Liberate Artists Dance Captain program as well as a full tuition scholarship to attend Phoenix Fire Blaze for the summer of 2023. For this award dancers will be asked the following questions in addition to general financial information:

  • • As a 22-23 Liberate Artists Dance Captain how will the applicant uphold the Liberate Artists mission to remind all "You Are Enough!"
  • • To apply dancers must submit an application and an unlisted YouTube video showing their movement skills and explaining why they'd like to join us as a 22-23 Liberate Artists Dance Captain.

For Apprentices Only. All Apprentices are required to complete initial training via video with a follow up quiz. The recording will be here and available by June 3rd. All Apprentice’s are required to complete the training no later than Friday June 24th. A mandatory Zoom training follow-up is scheduled for Wednesday June 29th, 7pm - 8:30pm est.   • Liberate Artists professional photography and videography team is onsite at Phoenix Fire all week to capture all of the magical moments of your dancer! All dancers are highlighted with small group videos of combos learned in select classes as well as individual photos with our teaching staff. In addition both Closing Showcases are videotaped and photos are taken. All dancers are featured! Don’t miss out on these amazing moments.

  • Photo/Video Package: $125 per family for all photos & videos (media will be released on a rolling basis during Phoenix Fire)
  • *Dance shots for the Blaze photo shoot are already included in the price of registration.

OBSERVATION PASSES

OBSERVATION PASS FAQ (Click To Learn More)

A limited number of observation passes are alloted each year at Phoenix Fire for select classes during the week. All observers will be required to sit in a specific part of the room and talking is not permitted in the space while class is in session. Folks must show their observation badge while entering the studio. Once entered, we ask observers to stay throughout the entire class but will be asked to be removed during filming. Failure to comply with these rules may result in removal of the observer and no refund will be provided.

There are 2 showcases at Phoenix Fire, the Green Showcase and the Purple Showcase. All dancers perform in both showcases.

The theatre requires that all audience members wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. These are the rules and regulations set forth by The Riverside Theatre, and all patrons must comply.

Tickets are first come first purchased basis. We will assign seats to families based on the order in which tickets are purchased. The Purple Showcase sells out quickly, so don't delay. All sales are final.
